تقبرني (Ta’burni) is a recipe moodboard representing the dish, kafta, a recipe recorded from Hajjar’s mother. The recipe and moodboard belong to an ongoing collection of works for Hajjar’s memoir cookbook in progress. Hajjar’s moodboards are third spaces of identity and belonging; they are aesthetic rituals of image-making as home-making. Dedicated to the artist’s partner, the kafta moodboard is an expression of queer poc love and sharing of culture. Held by water, the roses, cinnamon, and parsley are interanimated in fluid assembly representing diaspora, pleasure, and interdependence. Having grown up hearing “ta’burni” from her mom, she now passes on the phrase and cherished recipe to her lover.
